gnoses as a noun.
a liminal and cyclical space;
a vessel for ideas and their transmutations;
a mosaic of nostalgic sequiturs (and sometimes non-sequiturs);
a synergistic, sensorial experience wherein each person becomes an integral part of the work: the Wagnerian + Bauhaus concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, or “comprehensive artwork”;
an attempt to eradicate, even temporarily, the modern crux of individualism: the world needs more compassion, not more rules (and certainly not more labels).
the etymology of GNOSES
GNOSES is a smashing-together of ideas, a jeu de mots rooted in gnosis, the Greek word for 'knowledge' or 'insight', or as the alchemists say, self-knowledge. the name gives credence to our fives senses, particularly that of the nose, a primary portal to memory. in a much broader sense, i view gnoses as a valiant attempt to eliminate the illusion of separateness. deep down, it is about reconnecting to the intuition, to each other; alchemically speaking, it is the forging of the soul, and the continual shaping of one’s Weltanschauung.
